Clearing Up The Confusion About Six Sigma

Six Sigma is a concept that either you very easily understand or you don't. Many people do okay with the concept but when it comes to breaking it down and implementing it they fall short of the mark. This is the reason that coaching is so important. It provides companies with the support they need early on to make the changes they need for success. Skipping the coaching is one mistake that many companies make and these same companies will claim that the program didn't work when in fact it was due to their own lack of follow through.

The coaches of Six Sigma do what coaches are trained to do; they coach your company to success through the process implementation at every level. Learnig is the first step, but is a very necessary first step. It is easy to understand why companies struggle with confusion after training if they fail use a coach to help make necessary changes. This confusion will only increase when the implementation process is started and will create unnecessary failure problems.

Unless everyone has the correct interpretation of the concepts, different interpretations will abound and is the perfect storm for confusion during implementation at any level. Everyone involved in the project must be on the same page at the same time. One breakdown in this process will turn the project in the wrong direction, while breeding failure, thus giving the appearance that the Six Sigma program just doesn't work.

Without coaches, just learning and trying to implement Six Sigma is a sure fire recipe for failure of the program. Coaches are there to make sure the process stays a smooth operation and help everyone stay on track. This not only simplifies the process but will get it ready for each step of the process throughout the company and make success the last step.
